With Supreme season finally here and the preview and lookbook out on the website, lets take a look at some of Supreme’s best and worst clothing and accessories for SS19. I will only be considering the items in the preview and not any of the leaks/rumours.
Best Jacket: Reaper Work Jacket
This Supreme jacket is literally a piece of art. The jacket is a collaboration between Supreme and artist Josh Smith and features a print of a painting of a grim reaper in front of a colorful background. The same image is featured on the back of the jacket. This jacket overall just looks amazing and will be a great standout piece for any outfit, but since its so colorful and unique, you’ll probably have to design the whole outfit around it. Like all the others on this list, the jacket will release some time during ‘Preme’s Spring Summer 19 season.
Worst Jacket: Wolf Fleece Jacket
Probably one of the worst, or even the worst jacket of the season, the wolf fleece jacket is absolutely atrocious. Fleece is just not a good material to have such a print on and this jacket looks extremely tacky, like something you would see an add for on Instagram from some relatively unknown online fashion retailer. Moreover the Supreme text across the chest and sleeves of the jacket is just ugly. The font used is horrible and the placement of the text (cut from the sides and placed very oddly on the sleeves) doesn’t do much to help it. Needless to say this jacket would be a definite pass for me, and even if I did want it I could buy pretty much the same jacket (minus the atrocious branding) from Fleece Corner for just a fraction of the price, and I could have since October 2017.
Best Tee: Creeper Tee
Out of the 11 tees in the preview, the Creeper tee is my personal favourite. Though it was a hard decision between this and the Original Sin tee I eventually decided on this one because, though that has a great design, this is way more of a flex as the supreme branding on this is way more visible. It’s a great overall design and a very wearable graphic t-shirt, something I’d definitely cop if I had the chance. The tee features a man in a mask wearing some sort of weird eyewear which has a Supreme strap along the side. The man is holding a skeleton by its feet, tied with a Supreme ribbon. I have no idea what this graphic signifies but it looks pretty good nonetheless, with just enough visibility of the Supreme logos to be a flex. This probably won’t be the best tee of the season though as many collabs and previously unannounced designs are likely to release throughout the season.
Worst Tee: Fronts Tee
By far the most plain tee from the whole preview. This tee is basically just a coloured tee. The graphic is so small its basically pointless and reminds me of something like the Bottle Cap tee from 2018, just a plain tee with a tiny graphic. The graphic is a golden grill with “Supreme” letters in what appears to be diamond which looks like something NAV would get made for a music video. This tee is a big fat no from me, especially with all the other great options on the preview.
Best Hoodie: Gonz Embroidered Map Hoodie
The Gonz Map print is probably my favourite recurring print this season and I will instantly love anything Supreme decides to slap it on. These hoodies are definitely something unique and will probably have to be the centrepiece of your outfit but will probably look good with any good pair of jeans, or even the Gonz map print shorts. The pink would have to be my favourite and would be a definite cop if I ever came across one.
Worst Hoodie: Tag Logo Hoodie
This was a pretty hard choice since all of the hoodies this season are pretty great and I can see myself wearing most of them, including this Tag Logo hoodie. I chose this one for the same reason I chose the Fronts tee, the logo is so small its basically just a coloured hoodie. That being said this logo is way better than the Fronts logo and I can see myself wearing this hoodie in pretty much any of the colours.
Best Accessory: Supreme/Hot Wheels Fleet Flyer + 1992 BMW M3
I definitely did not see this one coming. In the many weeks before the preview that I spent surfing Instagram and looking at leak pages not once did I hear the mention of a collaboration with Hot Wheels, so naturally when I saw this I was extremely surprised. Seeing the iconic red Supreme logo on a toy everyone grew up playing with is pretty cool and as someone who loved hot wheels as a kid this is definitely something I really really want, but sadly its looking like its gonna have a high resale. Another great thing about this collaboration is that its basically a two in one, the truck + the car, which is also probably gonna play a role in shooting up the resale.
Worst Accessory: Diamond Plate Bandana
Let me just state this right off the bat, the diamond plate graphic is in my opinion the ugliest graphic supreme has done. Ever. These bandanas with this graphic in a square shape just look like colourful storm drain covers. Moreover I have never understood the appeal of bandanas, so adding this graphic certainly doesn’t help. This is something I can see sitting in some Supreme stores, especially the one in DSMNY, for quite a few days, maybe even a week. Needless to say this is a definite pass for me.
This post is completely my personal opinion. If you disagree or have something to share, let me know in the comments below.
